This is a collaborative project w/Yoshino and Sasoon Markarian.
After Yoshino’s initial photoshoot I scoured the session looking for interesting anatomical anomalies and found an especially dynamic shot of the model’s back. There was a sense of tension that was both naturally effortless and indicative of the strain of struggle.
I chopped this element into a two piece composition utilizing traditional and digital techniques and than had a silk screen burned.
Sasoon then applied the screen to his meticulously treated and washed t-shirt formula.
We later recycled the screen by experimenting with wax and oil paint treatment that led to a more visceral piece exploring the maleability and tension of surface and skin.
